The Desert Classic History

The Desert Classic is not just a golf tournament, it's a time to make new memories with old friends, meet new friends and have an unforgettable experience. The first Desert Classic started in the fall of 1994. This was the first year for Granite Bay Golf Club. Steve put together a field of eight friends and they went to Palm Desert and played three days of golf as two-man teams. It was such a great time they decided that it should happen again. The following year there was 16 players, then 36, and so on. The sixth Desert Classic had 100 players. There was a decline in 2008 due to the economy and housing crash. 2009 the event was canceled due to the economy. In 2010  the tournament was back and it has steadily grown and evolved into an incredible event and time. Chelsea and Danielle started to help organize and run the tournament in 2019. Now it couldn't happen without them.  The field is made up of guys of all ages and backgrounds. Players come from the east coast, the mid-west, and all over the place. If you love golf, great food, competition, hanging with friends and making new ones, then the Classic is for you!
