Team Composition & Roles:
Team captains and assistant captains are responsible for designating the following player roles:
  1. Designated Driver: Player hitting only the tee shot.
  2. Iron Players (3): Players responsible for hitting all shots in the fairway and alternating shots.
  3. Putter Players (3): Players alternating putts (on the green only) until the ball is holed.
  4. Sand Player: Player hitting any shots from bunkers.
  5. Designated Chip-Off Player: Player handling any chip-offs to break ties.
  6. Wildcard Player: Can be called in at any time (except for putting or chipping) to replace another player for one shot. After being called in, the wildcard player replaces that player until the team is either eliminated or wins.
  7. Mulligan Putters (2): These players can be used only on the final hole, in the event of a missed putt outside the flagstick.
Wildcard Rules:
  • The Wildcard player can be substituted in at any time (except for putting or chipping), but only once. Once a Wildcard is called in, they replace the player for the remainder of the hole or until the team is eliminated or wins.
  • If your team has fewer than 12 players, you will first sacrifice the Mulligan Putters, followed by the official Wildcard, then the Chip-Off Player. The opposing team may select who will hit your chip-off if you cannot field at least 8 players. Make sure your team is aware of this.
Playoff Format & Rules:
  • The team with the most points in their group earns a two-round bye. Teams with the most points in their conference earn a three-round bye.
  • Second-place teams earn a one-round bye.
  • The third-place teams with the most points in their conference will earn a wildcard spot.
  • The two wildcard teams will face off to advance. This will happen on hole #17 immediately following the scoring of the tournament.
  • In round two, the second-place teams and the winning wildcard team will compete. This will take place on hole #17.
  • The five teams will play #17, and three will advance. They will move on the hole #18.
  • The three surviving teams will play with the two group winners who did not have the most points.
  • The five teams will play, and three will advance.
  • The two conference champions will play against the three remaining teams.
  • Five teams will play, and two will be eliminated.
  • The final three teams will go battle, with the winning team claiming the Cactus Cup.
Tiebreaker Rules:
In the event of a tie, the tiebreaker will proceed as follows:
  1. Most points on Sunday.
  2. If still tied, most points on Saturday.
  3. If still tied, most points on Friday.
  4. If still tied, a chip-off will decide the winner.
Player Role Assignments:
Each team will assign players to the following roles:
  • Tee Shot
  • 1st Iron Shot
  • 2nd Iron Shot
  • 3rd Iron Shot

  • Mulligan Putter 2* more than 2 bullets away
*can only be used on final hole if a putter misses from a "bullet" or more to tie or win the tournament.
Important Notes for Missing Players:
  • If your full team is not present, the Wildcard will replace the missing player for their assigned role. However, you will lose that Wildcard for the rest of the event.
  • If your team has fewer than 12 players, here’s how positions will be sacrificed:
    • With 11 players, you lose the Mulligan Putter 2.
    • With 10 players, you lose the Mulligan Putter 1.
    • With 9 players, you lose the Wildcard Player.
    • With 8 players you lose the Chip off Player. If you are in a "chip off" , the opposing team can designate anyone on your team to chip off.
    • With fewer than 8 players, you cannot compete, and the team with the next most points will take your spot.
    • Please make sure your team is fully aware of these rules.
Submission of Player Selections:
Team captains must submit their player role selections at the Wine Dinner on Saturday at Tommy Bahama'sno exceptions. As a captain or assistant captain, your decisions are critical and could impact the outcome of the tournament.
